Martha Saxton

My beloved mom, Martha Saxton, died on July 18th. She’d been ill with lung cancer for three years, but her decline at the end was lightning fast. When I arrived to visit her at the beginning of June I had absolutely no idea that it would be for the rest of her life. My husband and my brother were with me at the end, and we had excellent help from the hospice workers of Litchfield County.

One of the unexpected gifts of that difficult time was the opportunity to help with an obituary for the New York Times. I wish she could have read it, it’s beautiful.

Much love to you all, and thank you for the much-needed, ongoing support.

Yours,

Josephine
